Florida sheriff’s deputies on Sunday rescued a foolhardy couple who believed they could ride out Hurricane Irma — in a sailboat.

A good Samaritan saw the small boat — just off Jensen Beach north of Palm Beach — being wildly tossed around in rough waters and called Martin County Sheriff’s deputies, officials said.

Deputies John Howell and James Holloran and Detective Mathew Fritchie motored up to the sail boat and brought the couple on to their craft – no easy task in the extremely choppy waters. They all safely made it to shore.
