He was bear-ly hiding it!

Months before revealing to the world the (bear) skeletons in his closet, independent presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s campaign began selling teddy bear merchandise to promote his 2024 bid.

Internet archives indicate that the product had been on sale from the Kennedy campaign since at least April.

“Cuddle up with the Kennedy Shanahan 2024 Teddy Bear, dressed in a campaign T-shirt,” a product description read.

“This adorable bear not only offers comfort but also spreads a message of hope and support for the Kennedy-Shanahan ticket, making it a perfect gift for supporters of all ages,” it went on.

That teddy bear merchandise has gotten a second look from netizens in the wake of Kennedy’s confession Sunday to hauling a bear carcass into Central Park in an attempt to make it appear as if the animal died from a biking accident in 2014.

Kennedy, 70, fessed up to the bizarre act Sunday, seeking to preempt a forthcoming story from the New Yorker, which later published a photo of him clenching his teeth in faux agony with his fingers in the bear’s bloody mouth.

“Everybody thought that’s a great idea. So we went and did that and thought it would be amusing for whoever found it,” Kennedy recounted in a video posted on X that featured sitcom actress Roseanne Barr.

He claimed that his buddies had been drinking at the time and he sought to stage a bike accident with the dead bear as a spoof on the spate of accidents in the Big Apple with bikes that made headlines at the time.

“Maybe that’s where I got my brain worm,” Kennedy quipped to the New Yorker when asked about the bear situation.

That’s a reference to revelations from May about how Kennedy said in a 2012 court deposition involving his second wife that he believed a brain worm may have resulted in memory loss and brain fog.

Kennedy claimed he stumbled upon the dead young bear while driving to the Hudson Valley for a falconry trip and tossed it in his car with the intent of skinning it for meat later on, but a scheduling snarl prompted him to dump it instead.

At the time, the discovery of the bear sparked a major frenzy in New York City. Locals were stunned at how a dead bear emerged in such a highly trafficked part of Central Park and safety concerns mounted.

Moreover, the bike puzzled many observers.

Officials were later able to deduce that the bear had been killed by a car and that it likely didn’t come from Central Park, but they hadn’t determined how it got there.

Little did they know that a future presidential contender would fess up to being the culprit a decade later.

“I turned on the TV and there was like a mile of yellow tape, and there were 20 cop cars. There were like helicopters flying over it. And I was like, ‘Oh, my God, what did I do?’” he recounted.

“I was worried because my [finger]prints were all over that bike. Luckily the story died after a while.”

Amid all the buzz about Kennedy’s bizarre tale, the scion blamed the media for focusing on “trivial” matters instead of kitchen table issues.

“The press is often called the ‘fourth estate,’ to emphasize its independence and high purpose. But these days it is in eerie, almost comical lockstep, amplifying trivial stories to damage disfavored political figures. Meanwhile, parents in our country can’t afford groceries,” Kennedy whined on X.

“Brothers won’t speak to each other because of partisan loyalties. Small towns sink under addiction and depression. And the world careens toward WW3. Let’s hold our media to a higher standard!”

Kennedy’s campaign has been losing some steam in recent polls.

Kennedy is averaging 5.7% in presidential polls compared to former President Donald Trump’s 44.3% and Vice President Kamala Harris’ 44.7% support in the latest RealClearPolitics aggregate of a five-way national race.

By comparison, the RCP aggregate had him at 8.7%, President Biden at 39.2% and Trump at 43.4%.
