The Rhode Island prosecutor whose arrest went viral after she told officers they’d “regret” putting her in handcuffs will be placed on unpaid leave, officials said.

Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Flanagan, who was arrested for trespassing on Aug. 14, will begin her suspension without pay starting Monday, the AG’s office told Fox News Digital.

It remains unclear how long Flanagan will be on unpaid leave as the AG’s office weighs a final decision on her employment.

Officials did not respond to additional questions about the matter or when a final decision will be made.

The AG’s office is currently investigating Flanagan’s viral arrest outside the Clarke Cooke House restaurant in Newport, where the prosecutor seemingly tried to use her position to avoid being booked.

“I’m an AG! I’m an AG!” Flanagan told police as they tried to detain her for failing to comply with their demands.

“You’re going to regret this. You’re going to regret it. I’m an A-” Flanagan said as she was escorted to the back of a police car and the door was shut.

“Good for you, I don’t give a s—,” one of the arresting officers said at one point.

During the incident, Flannagan also repeatedly demanded that the cops turn off their body cameras — claiming they were required to by law, an assertion that the AG’s office said was incorrect.

Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha slammed Flanagan’s outburst as “inexcusable behavior” that has shamed his office.

“I’ve got 110 lawyers. She embarrassed all of them,” Neronah told WPRO Radio following Flanagan’s arrest.

“It’s just really hard to find and keep capable lawyers, and so I just have to think really carefully about this one. But no question there will be a strong, strong sanction here,” he added.

While Neronha said he believed Flanagan may have been under the influence of alcohol during the incident, he said it doesn’t excuse the behavior.

The AG also issued an apology to the Newport Police Department over the incident.

“I’m not sure what she was thinking. Clearly, she was not thinking straight,” Neronha said.

“She’s humiliated herself. Regardless of what happens vis-a-vis her employment with us, she’s going to have a long time coming back from this,” he added. “It’s just really unfortunate.”
