The San Diego synagogue where one person was killed and three injured in an anti-Semitic attack on Saturday took the unusual step of hosting the victim’s funeral Monday.

Dozens of black-clad mourners returned to the Chabad of Poway synagogue to honor and celebrate the life of victim Lori Gilbert-Kaye, 60.

“While we sit here, it’s not lost on me that we’re at ground zero — the very place where an anti-Semitic terrorist came to tear us down,” said president of the Chabad of Poway synagogue Sam Hoffman during the afternoon service.

But, “[w]e stand tall against the darkness of evil and anti-Semitism in the world,” Hoffman said.

Gilbert-Kaye was at the synagogue with her daughter and husband on Saturday — the last day of Passover — to say a special prayer for her dead mother when the gunman opened fire.

She will be buried at El Camino Memorial Park following the service.
