A real-life Grinch was caught on camera shamelessly snatching presents from under a Christmas tree inside a California family’s home Monday.
The burglar was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt when he was captured on the Huntington Beach family’s home security camera — earning the nickname the “Santa impostor” from the family’s children, KTLA reported.
The brazen robbery was carried out while the couple was at work and their children, ages 6 and 3, were both at school.
Footage shows the burglar carrying what appears to be a laundry hamper, which he fills with gifts placed under the tree for the family’s children to open on Christmas morning.
The thief, seen in footage with a beard and wearing a red sweatshirt and light gray sweatpants, reportedly broke into the family home through a back sliding door
In between filling the hamper with gifts, the burglar can be seen peering outside a front window to check if anyone is coming toward the house.
Over a thousand dollars worth of possessions were taken from the home, the couple said.
