House Majority Whip Steve Scalise is in critical condition after being shot during baseball practice in Alexandria, MedStar Washington Hospital Center said.

Scalise was struck in the hip when 66-year-old James Hodgkinson opened fire at the Eugene Simpson Stadium Park just after 7 a.m.

He was rushed to the medical center and underwent surgery. Another shooting victim being treated at the hospital is in “good condition,” MedStar said in a tweet.
