MIAMI — Traffic on Miami’s Dolphin Expressway came to a standstill when a woman got out of her car, holding a baby and screaming for help.

The baby wasn’t breathing when Pamela Rauseo sought help Thursday afternoon.

Motorists sprang into action to help revive Rauseo’s unconscious 5-month-old nephew Sebastian de la Cruz, who was already turning blue. He was born prematurely and has respiratory issues.

The Miami Herald reports Lucila Godoy arrived first. When Sweetwater police officer Amauris Bastidas arrived, he took over CPR, performing chest pumps while Rauseo breathed into the infant’s mouth.

The baby briefly started breathing, then stopped again. The trio worked frantically to get the baby to breath. Miami Fire Rescue arrived and took the baby to Holtz Children’s Hospital. He was in stable condition Thursday night.
