An Illinois congressman made waves on the House floor Wednesday with a cringeworthy rendition of a popular Fergie song to attract attention to climate change.

Democratic Rep. Sean Casten said on Twitter that he “dropped a new #HotFERCSummer jam” — an homage to “Fergalicious” — to shed light on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

“I rise to continue our celebration of ‘hot FERC summer,” the lawmaker began his remarks.

“As climate activist Fergie would certainly say, the FERC-alicious definition is to make our planet cooler.”

The hip hop wannabe displayed a faux album cover of the song with Fergie and Will.i.Am listed as artists along with Casten.

“Having a well air-conditioned home when it’s ‘hot, hot,’ that’s FERC-alicious, getting your electricity from the lowest cost reliable source — FERC-alicious — an electric transmission system that keeps everything from electric vehicles to steel mills running with zero-carbon electricity, FERC-alicious,” he pelted out.

The peculiar performance came before Casten’s introduction to a bill — The Right to Timely Rehearings at FERC Act.

The bill, Casten sang, would “ensure that everyone has access to fair and timely hearings at the commission.”
