A Secret Service dog died in the line of duty over the weekend.

The Belgian malinois fell six stories to its death off a New Orleans parking garage Saturday after doing an explosives sweep for Vice President Joe Biden.

Biden was in the Big Easy to attend a fund-raiser for Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.).

The accident occurred adjacent to the Ritz-Carlton of New Orleans.

The service uses the Belgian dogs because they are smaller than others and have short hair, making it easier to work in the heat.
