A day after an anti-Trump zealot targeted the men’s GOP baseball team at a Virginia ball field, a congressional women’s softball team held practice in Washington amid beefed up security.
Wednesday’s shooting prompted a heavy police presence manned the fence around the field as the women’s team held its regular early morning practice.
Gunman James Hodgkinson opened fire on lawmakers at the Alexandria, Va. field, injuring five, including House majority whip Steve Scalise, as the team practiced for the Congressional Baseball Game.
The game, where teams of congressional Democrats and Republicans play each other for charity, is scheduled to go on as planned Thursday night at Nationals Park in Washington.
