WASHINGTON – The Senate passed a short-term funding bill Thursday night to avoid a government shutdown.

The legislation was approved by a vote of 66-32 to keep the government running through Jan. 19. Funding was set to expire Friday.

The House approved the same measure earlier Thursday and now it will head to President Trump’s desk.
