Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Tuesday that all he knew about Russian meddling in the election he learned from the newspapers.

Under questioning from Sen. Angus King (I-ME), Sessions testified before the intelligence committee that he believed the interference did occur, but that beyond media reports he had no other information about tactics.

“The intelligence community seems to be united in that, but I have to tell you, Senator King, I know nothing but what I’ve read in the paper. I’ve never received any details, briefing on how hacking occurred or how information was alleged to have influenced the campaigns,” Sessions said.
