The “Shaw-skank” prison supervisor who helped two killers escape from an upstate facility in June blamed her role on “depression,” saying she “got in over my head.”

Joyce Mitchell, a former prison seamstress, said convicted murderer Richard Matt had “complete control” over her.

“And I just got in over my head. And I couldn’t get out. And I couldn’t tell anybody. I couldn’t tell my husband. Couldn’t tell my family. I couldn’t tell my co-workers,” she added.

Mitchell, 51, said her battle with depression didn’t help.

“A lot of people go through [depression],” she shrugged.

The married mom pleaded guilty in July to helping Matt and his accomplice, David Sweat, escape from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora.

She had a sexual relationship with both inmates, according a former inmate and documents.

Mitchell is expected to receive 2 and 1/3 to seven years in prison when she is sentenced later this month.

She admitted she smuggled tools into the prison to help the convicted murderers break out.

Matt and Sweat spent about three weeks on the lam in the woods around the upstate prison before a federal agent fatally shot Matt, who was armed with a stolen shotgun.
