Police are not ruling out any suspects as they investigate Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance — with Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos refusing to categorically say the son-in-law who last saw her was off their radar.
“We’re actively looking at everybody we come across in this case, we would be irresponsible if we didn’t talk to everybody,” Nanos said when asked by reporters if Nancy’s son-in-law Tommaso Cioni was a suspect.

Cioni dropped Nancy off at her Tucson home just after 9:45 p.m. Saturday after having dinner and playing games with her and his wife, Nancy’s daughter Annie.
He was the last person to see her before she vanished from the house at some point overnight – in what investigators believe was likely an abduction.
Cioni ensured the elderly woman made it safely inside the home before leaving her house, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has said.
A timeline released by officials Thursday showed that Nancy’s garage door opened at 9:48 p.m. and closed two minutes later.

Then, at 1:47 a.m. on Sunday, Nancy’s doorbell camera disconnected.
Less than a half hour later, camera software at the home detected movement – but since there’s no video, investigators are unsure whether it was a person or animal that triggered the notification, officials said.
At 2:28 a.m., Nancy’s implanted pacemaker disconnected with her iPhone and Apple watch, the timeline shows.
Authorities also tracked down and interviewed the driver of an Uber that Nancy had taken to get to Annie and Cioni’s house at 5:32 p.m. Saturday night, they said Thursday, but declined to divulge any information about the driver’s role in the investigation.

At least one ransom note regarding her disappearance gave a deadline for 5 p.m. Thursday, but did not provide proof of life nor a method for law enforcement or Guthrie’s family to get in touch with the senders, investigators said.
That note, along with others that have been sent to local and national news outlets about the case, could possibly have “nothing to do” with Nancy, Nanos said.
The sheriff also said authorities “have always believed” in the possibility that she was targeted.
However, barring “new evidence” or an otherwise break in the case, Nanos said Thursday that his department will not schedule future press conferences regarding the case.
