Singer D4vd could face murder charges in the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas, according to a report.
Prosecutors will likely pursue the case through a grand jury, TMZ reported Monday.
Rivas’ body was discovered inside a Tesla registered to D4vd after the vehicle was towed from the Hollywood Hills area in September.
Singer D4vd is likely to be indicted in the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas. @d4vddd/InstagramThe car had been abandoned on a hillside street and ticketed roughly two weeks earlier before it was impounded.
Several days after the tow, employees at the impound lot reported a foul odor, leading to the discovery of the teen’s remains.
Police later searched a Hollywood Hills rental home where the singer had been staying, serving a warrant and seizing items including a laptop.
Authorities have said the singer was known to the victim and had a relationship with her.
He initially cooperated with investigators but later canceled tour dates as the probe intensified.
Celeste’s body was found in September in the trunk of a Tesla registered to D4vd in a tow yard in Los Angeles. abc7The grand jury involved may be an “investigative” grand jury — a type of panel used to assist authorities in gathering evidence but not issuing indictments. Such grand juries can subpoena documents and compel testimony from uncooperative witnesses, TMZ reported.
The singer’s day-to-day manager, Robert Morgenroth, testified for several days before the grand jury, according to the outlet.
A TMZ reporter said they overheard Morgenroth tell his attorney in a courtroom hallway that prosecutor Silverman was “very pushy” in questioning why he did not contact police. Morgenroth allegedly responded that it was not his responsibility and that his role was to keep the tour moving forward.
The grand jury could hear additional witnesses as soon as February, the reporter also overheard, suggesting any indictment may not be imminent.
The Post reached out to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for comment on the status of the grand jury proceedings but did immediately hear back.
Authorities have said D4vd was known to Celeste and had a relationship with her. Riverside Sheriff's OfficeIn late December, The Post reported that a “burn cage” incinerator — advertised to burn at 1,600 degrees — was discovered at the Hollywood Hills mansion the singer was renting at the time the teen’s body was found, according to a private investigator hired by the property owner.
The incinerator, which was boxed and unused, was found inside the $20,000-a-month residence.
Private investigator Steve Fischer, who conducted the search, described the item in a post on X as something you “would expect to find on a farm rather than in a home in the Hollywood Hills.”
Fischer later claimed he also found multiple tools in the home — typically used on farms — that he alleged “could be used to get rid of a body.”
The 20-year-old “Romantic Homicide” singer may have received help attempting to conceal the teen’s body in his car, claiming it would have taken multiple people to dismember her, sources said last month.
Rivas was first reported missing from her home in Lake Elsinore on April 5, 2024, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. Her remains were found on Sept. 8 — one day before what would have been her 15th birthday — wrapped in plastic inside the trunk of the Tesla.
Investigators believe the teen, who had previously run away from home, likely died sometime in the spring. The medical examiner has not determined an exact cause of death due to the advanced state of decomposition.
As the case unfolded, connections between the teen and the singer surfaced, including screenshots from a Discord fan server showing rumors that he had been dating a teen named “Celeste.”
He also recorded an unreleased song referencing the name “Celeste” twice, as the girl’s mother told investigators her daughter had been dating someone named “David.”
When reached by the Post, a Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office spokesperson said the case has not been presented to the office.
Multiple attempts to reach D4vd and his team since September, and on Monday, have been unsuccessful.
