A skydiver in upstate New York died in a freak accident Saturday when his parachute became tangled during his descent, police said.
Richard Cordaro, 68, who had over 45 years of skydiving experience, plummeted into a cornfield in the town of Perry after the malfunction at about 12:05 p.m. on Saturday, authorities said.
Cordaro, of Bergen, NY, and three other skydivers flew out of Perry-Warsaw airport with the company Rochester Skydivers.
The three other thrill-seekers landed safely, police said.
Authorities said Cordaro’s parachute opened properly, but then became tangled.
Police who arrived at the scene tried to resuscitate Codaro, but he was declared dead at the scene.
