Navy SEAL Charles Keating IV secretly eloped with fiancée Brooke Clark before he left home for his third tour in Iraq because he may have had a premonition of his death, a fellow warrior pal told People magazine.
Keating, 31, was killed in an ISIS gunfight Tuesday.
“Charlie may have had a feeling about this mission,” the fellow SEAL said. “Maybe he was just being prudent.”
The couple, who dated for nearly two years, planned a November wedding, but Keating (right) “wanted to protect [Clark] in case anything happened to him,” the SEAL said of the “well-guarded secret.”
“There are certain benefits to being married, and a lot of couples put that in place as a protective measure,” said Lt. Beth Teach, a Navy spokeswoman.
