A 32-year-old woman in South Carolina was mauled to death by dogs in the yard of a home, officials said.

Jacqueline Nicole Robinson was found dead Tuesday morning in the yard on Allegra Lane in Gray Court, around 78 miles northwest of Columbia, news station WYFF reported.

Deputies said her body was discovered by a home health aide and several dogs were removed from the premises. It is unclear if it was the victim’s home or if the dogs were hers. The dog breeds are also unclear.

Laurens County Deputy Coroner Patti Canupp said an autopsy performed Wednesday determined the cause of death was mauling by dogs.

No further details were provided about her death, but authorities said the case was still under investigation.

Neighbor Toshianna Bennett said the dogs often ran loose on the premises and some of them were aggressive, news station WSPA reported.

“Some of them was [sic] friendly, and some of them is [sic] mean and bark at you and growl at you sometimes,” he said.

But Bennett said he was still stunned by news of the death of Robinson, whom he called a “sweet and a loving person.”

“When I heard the news, it shocked me because like usually when she walk [sic] through the area, the dogs usually bark at her, but I ain’t never seen the dogs jump on her or nothing like that,” Bennett said.
