A Los Angeles deputy sheriff’s 16-hour shift quickly turned into a disrespectful spectacle when a Starbucks barista served him coffee in a cup featuring a hand-drawn image of a pig.

The incident was slammed as deeply concerning and demeaning to law enforcement by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department in a statement.

“This action was extremely offensive, inappropriate, and unacceptable,” the statement read. “Disrespectful actions will not be tolerated against our personnel.”

The term “pig” has long been used as derogatory slang for police officers, dating back decades as an insult meant to portray law enforcement as corrupt, abusive or oppressive. It’s widely considered offensive within policing circles and is often associated with anti-police sentiment or protest rhetoric.

The deputy, whose identity was not released by the department, later posted about the Jan. 9 incident on his private Instagram account, according to KTLA.

“It felt discouraging and disrespectful, especially after a long day of serving the community,” the deputy wrote. “All I wanted was caffeine, but instead I left feeling uneasy.”

The sheriff immediately escalated the matter and contacted the company’s corporate security division to formally raise concerns and ensure accountability.

Starbucks did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

This is not the first time Starbucks has faced controversy involving a rogue employee.

In 2019, an Oklahoma police officer was given a coffee with the word “PIG” printed on the label. Starbucks fired the employee involved, calling the incident “absolutely unacceptable.”

On social media, an X user said the Starbucks employee should be fired, while another disgruntled commenter claimed this is what happens in “lawless Los Angeles.”

“Criminals are more important than cops,” the user added.

Cece Woods, a reporter with Current Reports, also took to social media to put Starbucks on blast.

“Nothing says ‘community values’ like mocking the people who keep the community safe,” she wrote.
