One of the three Americans who were found dead at a Bahamas resort last week was discovered lying unconscious on the floor, while his wife was unable to move in bed because her limbs were swollen, the couple’s son has revealed.
Vincent Chiarella — who died at the luxury Sandals Emerald Bay resort on Exuma — was unresponsive when his wife, Donnis, woke up Friday on their anniversary trip, their son Austin Chiarella told ABC News.
“I am just so heartbroken right now,” Austin Chiarella told the outlet. “My dad was everything to me.”
The Chiarellas’ son said he received a call from the US Embassy on Friday night and was able to speak to his mother the following day about the nightmare trip.

Later, she woke up to find that “she couldn’t move” and that Vincent “was laying on the floor,” he said.

The woman was being treated at a hospital in Miami on Sunday night, CNN reported.
The US State Department said it is “closely monitoring” the Bahamas police investigation into the deaths of Chiarella and two other Americans under mysterious circumstances.
