A Staten Island doctor is suing one of her former staffers for allegedly writing a scathing Google review of the office that even whines about a receptionist’s bad breath.
“As a former employee I would say RUN!’’ ex-Advanced Vision Care Associates worker Shannon Marcano posted online Feb. 1, according to the Staten Island Supreme Court suit filed Friday.
“Dr. Rosenthal is rude to the employees and only cares about the money so she gives patients unnecessary appointments for more co pays,’’ rages the post, which is included in eye doctor Deborah Rosethal’s suit against Marcano.
A “medical biller’’ at the office “does under the table business with patients behind Dr. Rosenthal’s back and worst of all She’s a slob and got everybody including me sick instead of staying home and take care of her sickness coughing on and patients,’’ the posting says.
“Oh and did I mention [a] lady in the front desk breath STINKS like there’s never a day where her breath actually smells decent and she talks so much?
“Just throw the establishment in the garbage.’’
Rosenthal says in her $2 million suit that the posting is full of damaging lies and that Marcano, who apparently briefly worked at the office starting in November, “acted with malice” in allegedly writing it under the moniker “Diamond Ancrum.’’
Rosenthal told The Post by phone Sunday, “Everyone that works there was completely upset’’ by the posting. “I don’t know why she wrote it.
“Of course, it’s been an effect on the business, too,” the doctor said. “We have a lot of family clients, and it’s very disturbing for other patients to read this. It’s disturbing for everybody.
“This is just an ex-employee who chose to say completely untrue, hurtful things,” added the opthamologist , who has been practicing since 1990 and worked at her current location on Hylan Boulevard since 1995.
“I had no choice but to ask her to take it down, which she refused to do,” the doctor said of Marcano.
Rosenthal is claiming defamation and breach of contract, saying that by posting the “review,’’ Marcano violated the confidentiality agreement she signed when she was hired.
The suit is seeking $1 million in damages for defamation and an additional $1 million for breach of contract.
“I felt like I had to defend myself and the employees that work there against something slanderous,” Dr. Rosenthal said of her suit.
She refused to describe Marcano’s time as her employee, adding, “you know, I don’t want to do what she’s doing. I’m taking the high road.”
Marcano did not return messages from The Post seeking comment Sunday.
