More than 3 million illegal aliens have left the US or been deported since President Trump took office, the Department of Homeland Security has revealed.

Of those 3 million, 2.2 million have opted to self-deport through a program that allows migrants to turn themselves in via a DHS app in return for a cash stipend and free flight home.

Another 900,000 have been deported since Jan. 20, 2025, and as of this month, DHS has arrested 900,000 illegal aliens, according to agency figures.

It’s a marked shift from the Biden administration, which let an estimated 5 million to 6 million migrants into the country, according to the Cato Institute, under the less-than-watchful eye of then-border czar Kamala Harris.

Border czar Tom Homan, whom Trump retained from the Obama administration to oversee his immigration crackdown, told the Washington Times that the efforts to remove illegal immigrants from the country are just getting started.

“We just had, the first year’s a historic year, and we’re going to continue. President Trump committed in the four years he’s in office, we’re going to enforce immigration law at unprecedented levels, and it’s happening.”

Under the self-deportation program, which is facilitated through the CBP Home app, illegal immigrants who sign up receive a $2,600 stipend and a fully paid-for one-way ticket back to their country of origin.

DHS said self-deportations via the app cost $5,100, versus $18,245 for an enforced deportation, representing a cost savings of more than $13,000 for every migrant sent home.

More than 100,000 people have signed up to use the CBP One app as of January.
