There was no happily ever after for this Disney princess-themed fundraiser.
Another of the subpar Disney princesses.Manchester Evening NewsAngry moms and disappointed children waited hours in the packed lobby of the Renaissance Hotel in Manchester, England, for the chance to meet some of their favorite costumed characters at the “Party like a Princess” event.
Instead, they said, they were greeted by B-movie amateurs who were anything but enchanting.
“They just didn’t look anything like the princesses at all,” Kelsie Skudder told the Manchester Evening News. “Took the magic away from Disney.”
Skudder said her 3-year-old daughter wanted to leave after waiting more than half an hour in a line that just wasn’t moving.
Another mom slammed the long lines and lack of organization at the event, which had a $25 price tag for kids and an extra $5 charge for parents.
Parents were also upset with the contents of the party favor bags, which contained a party popper they say is dangerous for young children.Manchester Evening News“The ‘promised’ princesses were unenthusiastic, unhappy random people in terrible costumes and the whole event must have been a health and safety issue because there were far too many people at the venue,” Sophie Brown said.
It later emerged that only two of the princesses — Anna and Elsa from “Frozen” — were actually part of a professional company and the rest of the women were just friends of the party planner, the paper reported.
“I’m a mum of two kids on maternity leave from my job and organized this event in my free time to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society after the disease had a personal effect on my family,” the anonymous organizer said. “I in no way meant to upset people.”
