A parking attendant at the renowned Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston was wounded in a shooting Monday — and the suspect was later killed by cops after a pursuit into a nearby community, according to reports.
The hospital said in a tweet that a “member of our Valet team was shot. Our Emergency Department team responded immediately, and our colleague is currently in stable condition.”
Sources told the local CBS affiliate that the man was shot in the head.
Police followed the suspect until the pursuit ended with a crash on Route 9 in Brookline, the Boston Globe reported, citing the Norfolk DA’s office.
Sgt. Detective John Boyle, a Boston police spokesman, said authorities were trying to determine the connection between the two incidents.
“It’s a very fluid investigation,” he told the Globe.
The report of a shooting at the hospital came in at 9:20 a.m., officials said.
“There was an active shooter alert at the hospital. That security alert is now all clear,” hospital spokeswoman Elaine St. Peter said.
Retired Army Major Bob Kinder was running an errand when he heard what he said were six or seven shots at the busy intersection at Route 9.
“What I saw was police activity going both eastbound and westbound, converging police officers from multiple jurisdictions right by Star Market,” he told NBC Boston.

Luiz Aragaki, 71, of Brookline, told the Globe he was leaving an EKG appointment at the hospital when he “heard like an explosion.”
He said he saw a man wearing a valet’s red coat and black pants lying on the ground in the crosswalk in front of the main entrance. The man’s hands were covering both ears and his body was trembling.
“It looked like he was kidding — I didn’t see any blood,” Aragaki told the paper.
The identities of the slain man and the valet have not yet been released.
