Dozens of out-of-town vultures have been busted for sneaking into ritzy neighborhoods in the Los Angeles wildfire evacuation zone to loot abandoned homes — and local police are naming and shaming them as a warning to the rest.

More than 40 people have been bagged by the Santa Monica police for allegedly preying on the thousands of homes left abandoned there and in the neighboring Pacific Palisades.

About 88,000 Los Angeles County residents are under mandatory evacuation orders as the 24,000-acre Palisades Fire and other blazes burn across the region — with tens of thousands more who were preveiously told to flee their homes.

Criminals have taken advantage, flocking to prey on what residents left behind — forcing cops to divert vital resources from fire safety to keep out the low-lifes.

Ten of the suspects named by the Santa Monica Police Department have been charged with burglary, while the others were hit with a laundry list of charges related to drugs, driving, warrants and violating probation or parole.

At least two were found with illegal handguns, cops said.

“This is a significant increase in the normal number of arrests in the neighborhoods,” the Santa Monica Police Department said.

“None of the arrestees are from Santa Monica,” said police in the wealthy enclave, which is just down the coast from the Pacific Palisades.

In many instances, the suspects were caught during basic traffic stops or pulled over for being on the road outside of the area’s strict 6 am to 6 pm curfew.

Police searches of their vehicles found things like masks, gloves, window breakers and other paraphernalia that appeared to indicate plans to break into homes.

Some even had items looted from the area’s empty mansions stowed away in their cars, cops alleged.

And many of their cars had license plates removed or were outfitted with fake tags – including a vehicle being driven by Miguel Angel Dorantes, 22, and 18-year-old Dominic Pacheco Magana.

The pair were arrested in a white cargo van just before 5 a.m. Thursday after they failed to stop at an intersection. Their van had the front license plate removed, and when officers pulled them over the crooks were seen with an app open on their phone tracking fire evacuation zones.

They were also found with tote bags, ski masks, gloves and black t-shirts in the van, leading cops to deduce they were trying to break into homes. Each was charged with intent to commit residential burglaries.

Another car carrying four suspects — Joshua Charles, 20, Markhi Toles, 20, Khamari Toles, 19, and Fernando Garcia, 22 – were caught just after 4 a.m. Friday in a car with tinted out windows and fake plates, along with a number of alternate licence plates stashed in the car.

They also had numerous suspicious items including a handsaw, electronic car key fobs, and programmers for the fobs, cops said. Each was charged with felony conspiracy to commit vehicle theft.

At least two suspects arrested – 49-year-old Moises Becerra Garcia, and 29-year-old Joshua Kalie Love — were found with methamphetamine. Love was busted on Saturday, a day after he had an encounter with police over violating curfew in a neighborhood he lived nowhere near.

Looters have become such a major worry for Angelenos who have been ordered to evacuate from their homes that on Tuesday LA District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced nine cases had been accelerated to bring charges against newly arrested looting suspects in a message to other would-be criminals.

“Let me be clear: If you exploit this tragedy to prey on victims of these deadly fires, we will find you and we will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law,” Hochman told reporters.
