Dramatic footage captured the moment rescuers airlifted a woman from the bottom of a 150-foot Studio City embankment after her car plunged from the notoriously dangerous “The Snake.”

Los Angeles Fire Department rescuers had to rappel down the steep hillside off Mulholland Drive and free the woman from inside the upside-down car before attaching her to a Stokes basket to rush her to safety, video taken by Sky5 shows.

The “complex” rescue kicked off around 7:20 a.m. after the 30-year-old woman careered off a sharp curve on Mulholland Drive and landed in the deep brush on the steep slope, the LAFD said.

More than a dozen rescuers had to stabilize the black SUV with chains and cables to stop it from further sliding down the hillside and were then forced to rip the roof to free the driver, the video shows.

“She was stable and talking,” LAFD spokesperson Lindsay Lantz told KTLA.

“She was able to tell us she was the only person in that car.”

The helicopter — which had dropped the first paramedic to the scene — lowered a new line, which rescuers used to secure the woman to a Stokes basket.

She was then whisked away to a nearby trauma center in serious, but stable condition.

The smashed car has already been removed from the scene.

Traffic was briefly shut down near the intersection, but the roads have since been reopened.

It is not clear what caused the woman to drive off the cliff, but that section of Mulholland Drive near Skyline is notoriously sharp and winding.

The famed 2.2-mile stretch just reopened last month for the first time since the 2018 Woolsey Fire — and a crash occurred the very next day.

A young driver lost control of the car and went off the hillside, but was not injured.

The Snake killed four people and injured 49 people between 2013 and 2023, according to SF Gate.
