WASHINGTON — Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, the first announced 2016 White House candidate, shrugged off comparisons between him and President Obama Sunday.

“I wasn’t a community organizer” or a “back-bencher,” Cruz said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Cruz and Obama were both Harvard Law School graduates, constitutional lawyers and first-term senators in their 40s when they launched their presidential bids.
