A Louisiana teen faces charges after his girlfriend’s baby died in his care, police said.

Vincent Earl Cummings, 17, was charged Monday with cruelty to a juvenile and second-degree murder in the death of Katelynn Carter, news station WAFB reported.

The 8-month-old baby reportedly became unresponsive Sunday and was brought to a hospital, where she later died.

Baton Rouge Police said that there were bruises on the infant’s body.

An autopsy determined that the infant died from multiple blunt-force injuries.

Cummings admitted to physically abusing the child, according to WAFB.

He was booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
