A 16-year-old girl who aspired to an NICU nurse was among those killed when a crazed shooter opened fire on a Texas church congregation on Sunday, according to a report.

Teen Haley Krueger was fatally shot when gunman Devin Kelley opened fire inside the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, CNN reports.

“She was a vibrant 16-year-old that loved life,” Krueger’s mother, Charlene Marie Uhl, told the station. “She was also looking forward to her future as a nurse in the NICU.”

“She loved babies and always wanted to help.”

A family friend set up a GoFundMe page to help the family with funeral expenses.

“[Haley] was doing what so many of you do on Sunday mornings, worshiping,” the friend, Tasha Niemann Wiatrek, wrote on the page. “Then, the unthinkable happened. A selfless evil man entered the church doors, taking the lives of 26 innocent souls, Haley being one of them.”
