A group of teens invited to a birthday sleepover in Indiana were hit and killed by an SUV while pushing a stalled vehicle outside the party, according to reports.

Police said three teenage girls and one boy were struck Saturday night in Cortland, news station WTHR reported. They were identified as Nevaeh Law, 14; Jenna Helton, 14; Brittany Watson, 15; and Martin Martinez, 16.

Five other teen girls were injured, including 15-year-old Victoria Valdivia, who was celebrating her birthday on the night of the fatal wreck.

Valdiva’s mother, Cara Selby, was driving her Chevrolet Suburban that evening when the vehicle broke down about a block from the home, according to the Seymour Tribune.

Several teens at her daughter’s slumber party reportedly offered to help push the broken down car back to the home.

While moving the vehicle, they were struck by 24-year-old Elizabeth Watson in her SUV, according to officials. The driver — who isn’t related to victim Brittany Watson — wasn’t injured and has not been charged, the Seymour Tribune reported.

Seymour High School officials confirmed that two of the victims were students.

“There are many family members, friends, and students, not only at SHS, but at area schools and communities, who are grieving this morning,” Principal Greg Prange told WTHR. “We pray for peace, comfort, and understanding as we all go through this together.”
