MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 19-year-old Tennessee man has been charged with fatally shooting a husband and wife whose bodies were found in a burned apartment.

The Shelby County district attorney’s office said Wednesday that Aareon Berryman has been indicted on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated arson in the 2018 deaths of 34-year-old Brandon Allen and his 33-year-old wife Regina Allen.

Investigators say Berryman robbed Brandon Allen, and then shot the couple at a Memphis apartment. Prosecutors say Berryman then soaked the apartment with lighter fluid, ignited it and ran away.

A police officer and a Memphis Light, Gas & Water Division employee were at a nearby apartment on another matter. Investigators say they chased Berryman and caught him.

A call seeking comment from Berryman’s lawyer was not immediately returned.
