The Captain and Tennille’s marriage is “irretrievably broken” and there is “no reasonable prospect of reconciliation,” according to court documents.

The singing half of the popular duo behind “Love Will Keep Us Together” filed divorce papers in Arizona, but she was vague about what led to the split.

Their official Web site, though, gave a little insight.

“Until Thursday, January 16th, 2014, when Toni Tennile [sic] met with a DIVORCE ATTORNEY, in Phoenix, AZ, everything relating to THE CAPTAIN & TENNILLE appeared to the public as them being the ideal model for a ‘rock-solid’ married pair,” the notice said.

“But almost all people naturally evolve over time, & sometimes hidden feelings start to be uncovered when one may read, just a little more into (the popularized, substitute heading appearing just below), stating, for instance: “MUSIC HAS KEPT THEM TOGETHER.”

The divorce paperwork included routine directions about health-insurance coverage, which may be significant considering that Tennille’s husband, Daryl Dragon, has medical issues.

Dragon, known as The Captain for his nautical hats, has a Parkinson’s-like illness, which causes severe tremors, which have limited his performing ability.
