A terrifying stick-up in broad daylight was captured on video that shows a tourist with a GoPro camera being held at gunpoint in Argentina by a motorcycle madman.
Everything at first appears calm in the YouTube video posted this week as Canadian tourist Alex Hennessy enjoys a leisurely cruise on a bicycle in Buenos Aires.
But out of nowhere, a brazen gunman suddenly zips into view on his Honda motorcycle and pulls a pistol on Hennessy, demanding in Spanish that he hand over his backpack.
Confused about what the man wants because he doesn’t speak the language, Hennessy keeps his hands up and quickly dismounts his bike, repeatedly saying “Amigo” as he pleads for his life. That’s when he suddenly makes a run for it.
Hennessy takes off down the street, with the motorcycle man, who is now on foot, in hot pursuit.
A scary showdown unfolds as the two men finally lock up in an intense struggle to see who will be the first to surrender. Thankfully for Hennessy, one of his friends manages to rush in and snatch him away from the thief before darting off down the street.
The two eventually meet up with some other cyclists and flag down a cop — informing him of the intense clash. When Hennessy finally is able to catch his breath, he realizes that the entire ordeal was caught on his helmet-mounted GoPro — sending him into a burst of laughter.
The video eventually was handed over to the police and the robber was arrested later that day, according to an online post.
The bike-riding enthusiast is on a tour around the world with Global Degree, which describes itself as a “show about some dudes who want to step foot into every country of the world.” Hennessy has made stops in numerous South and Central American countries including Peru, Honduras, Guatemala and Belize.
