A body believed to be that of missing Texas mom Heidi Broussard has been discovered near Houston, and a newborn — suspected to be her daughter, Margot Carey — was found alive, a family member said in a new report.

Heidi Broussard’s mother, Tammy Broussard, told NBC News early Friday that authorities told her a body discovered in a car trunk in Jersey Village, Texas, Thursday night is likely that of her daughter — who vanished last week.

Authorities also told Tammy that her 3-week-old granddaughter, Margot Carey, was found safe inside a home in Jersey Village.

None of those details have been officially confirmed. Authorities told Tammy that the medical examiner still needs to confirm the identity of the body found in the trunk. Police also have not revealed the baby’s identity.

Local authorities, along with the FBI, had converged on the home for hours overnight, KTRK reported.

The infant was taken by ambulance to the hospital, the outlet reported. Even though she didn’t have any obvious injuries, Child Protective Services called in requesting an evaluation, the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department told the station.

Authorities seemed particularly focused on a light-colored Nissan in a driveway toward the back of the home, according to the report.

That car is registered to someone Broussard knew, KTRK reported, citing online records and a source.

The FBI would not comment about the developments to the station, beyond to confirm that it was “lawfully present at the location conducting a law enforcement operation.”

The agency’s Houston branch tweeted Friday morning that the investigation was turned over to the Austin Police Department.

Broussard, 33, was last seen with little Margot on Dec. 12 as she dropped off her 6-year-old son at an elementary school.

Investigators believe the pair returned to their apartment complex in Austin before vanishing, Detective Brad Herries told reporters earlier this week.

Herries declined to comment when asked if Broussard’s boyfriend, Shane Carey, is being considered a person of interest in the case, saying investigators are considering any possibility ranging from foul play to Broussard having left the area by choice.
