A former Texas teacher was arrested and slapped with several charges after allegedly having an inappropriate relationship that involved sexual contact with a middle school student.
Kara Hernandez, 31, resigned from her teaching job at Ronald Thornton Middle School in September 2024, after a former student came forward to the district about her alleged improper relationship with a student, Fox 26 Houston reported.

Kara Hernandez was arrested on Feb. 14.
The alleged relationship happened on or around April 1, 2022, when Hernandez worked for the Houston-area school. A grand jury indictment accuses Hernandez of intentionally engaging in sexual contact with a student enrolled at the school, according to court documents obtained by Click 2 Houston.
On a Facebook post about Hernandez’s arrest, people claiming to have children in the school district wrote that Hernandez was an orchestra teacher. The Post could not independently verify these claims.
She resigned from her position in September 2024 during their investigation into the allegations, the Fort Bend Independent School District said.
Ford Bend ISD addressed the allegations against the former teacher in a letter sent to parents.
“Recently, allegations of past inappropriate conduct by a Thornton Middle School staff member were brought to the district’s attention by a former student. Fort Bend ISD immediately began an investigation, and the staff member was immediately removed from the campus and placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The staff member will not be returning to FBISD,” the district said.
In a separate statement to the local news channel, Fort Bend ISD noted, “The district took action immediately after allegations came to light, and during our investigation the teacher resigned in place of termination in September 2024.”
