Pic shows:Toddler Wei Yaoyao got stuck in a gap in a wall with a 13ft drop. A toddler who got stuck in a gap in a wall with a 13ft drop had a lucky escape after her mum heard her cries for help and called the fire brigade. Little Wei Yaoyao, 4, was playing at her home in southwest China’s Chongqing municipality when she climbed into the 7.8 inch crevice and got trapped. Shocked mum Wei-Ying Pai, 27, said: "I had no idea this crevice was even there until I heard my little girl crying and calling out my name for help. "I looked behind the wall and to my horror saw my Yaoyao hanging in midair and the only thing that was stopping her from falling were the sides of the walls." When firemen arrived they realised the only way they were going to be able to rescue Yaoyao was by knocking down a neighbour’s wall. A fire spokesman said: "She was well and truly stuck so there was no way we could winch her out. "Luckily, despite being scared she soon calmed down when we arrived and thankfully she wasn’t injured." The fire crew then went next door and explained to neighbour Yue Wan Jen, 26, what they had to do. She said: "Naturally, I wasn’t happy about the wall, but I was even less happy about that poor little girl being stuck there so of course I let them in." Within 20 minutes the firemen had knocked a hole though the wall and were able to ease the girl out. Delighted mum Pai said: "I can’t thank the firemen enough for what they have done" A city official said: "Unfortunately, these buildings are fairly old and not very well constructed. "We advise all parents to be on their guard to prevent this sort of thing happening again." (ends)
