This young Chinese girl has gone to the streets offering to marry the first man who will pay the medical bill needed to save her brother's life. Huang Xijun, 24, has been struggling to care for her younger brother Huang Xichao, 19, ever since he was diagnosed as suffering from leukaemia. Together with her father they both worked to earn money while her mother cared for the boy. And despite spending everything they owned on treatment, they still ended up 30,000 GBP in debt. And the situation became critical when there were complications after a bone marrow transplant meaning that the boy needed more surgery, and then tragically the mother died in a car accident. It left the girl desperate and finally she decided that the only thing to do would be to offer to marry the man who agreed to pay the money to save her brother. Now they are standing every day outside Kunming railway station in the city of Kunming in south-western China’s Yunnan province to seek for help. According to pictures published in local media the girl carried a sign saying: "As long as you can offer the money to save my brother, I will marry you and I can go home with you now to hold the wedding without any delay." To show her sincerity, the girl even wore a wedding dress and insisted when questioned that she was prepared to go through the marriage ceremony immediately. (ends)

Big top star Guillermo Cienfuegos Perez - known as Little Tear to fans - is to run as a candidate in the mayoral race in the western city of Guadalajara. One of only 10 independents allowed to stand, he said: "Politics is full of clowns pretending to be politicians so I should fit right in." Guillermo, 53, added: "I may be a clown but I don't intend to be a joke candidate. "There are serious issues like unemployment and industry to address and I'll make a better job of it than any professional politician. "The mistakes they make are no laughing matter." Opponents tried to stop the entertainer's candidacy by claiming he did not have enough signatures on a petition supporting his candidacy. But the region's Instituto Electoral y de Participacion has backed his application. Spokesman Melin Cuellar said: "He has earned his right to be on the ballot paper. It is up to the voters now." With help from his 24-year-old son Costel Cienfuegos, Guillermo is running a political campaign called: "Stop clown politicians, it is time to politicise clowns. It is time that a real clown actually governs." (ends)
