More like Eiffel sour.
The digital age has ruined yet another old world charm — a quick trip up Paris’s iconic Eiffel Tower, the Sunday Times of London reported.
Now, 80 percent of all tickets will be sold online and on-the-spot purchases will cost about $9 more, increasing from roughly $19 to $28.
“It’s still below the average price of monuments worldwide, like the Empire Sate Building,” said the deputy mayor of Paris Jean-Francois Martins, who’s in charge of tourism in the city.
The historic steel tower, 1,063ft tall, will undergo a $333 million renovation over the next 15 years. The fixes will include security improvements, elevator upgrades, new lights, and other enhancements.
The tower — built for the 1889 Universal Exhibition to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution — was only meant to stand for 20 years.
