London police are on the hunt for a zoo’s worth of stuffed animals stolen from a taxidermy warehouse.
Thieves broke into the shop in Wandsworth Tuesday night and took off with at least 18 animals worth more than $140,000 including “lions, a giraffe, a zebra, a sloth and a chimpanzee in a top hat,” according to the Metropolitan police.
Cops said the burglars used angle grinders to get inside and took off in a gray Luton van.
“This was not a random crime,” Detective Constable Edward Bird said in a statement. “The burglars came prepared and well equipped.”
“The items they stole are of high value and are very distinctive,” he added.
Among the other stolen creatures are a penguin, a flamingo and at least one other monkey besides the chimp dressed in a top hat and tie.
Police are still on the prowl for the animal snatchers.
