This election is no joke.

A 41-year-old comic who plays a president on TV could actually become Ukraine’s next head of state after taking a commanding lead in the country’s first round of elections.

Results released Monday — April Fool’s Day — showed Volodymyr Zelenski snagging 30 percent of the vote in Sunday’s elections.

He will now take part in a run-off vote April 21 with incumbent Petro Poroshenko, who got 16 percent of the vote in the first round.

“I want to thank all the Ukrainians who came out and did not vote just for fun,” Zelenski told his supporters late Sunday.

In his popular TV series “Servant of the People,” Zelenski plays a naive teacher who turns into a strong leader. The show premiered in 2015 and attracts up to 20 million viewers in a country of 42 million.
