Minnesota voters decided to make their town Great – as in Pyrenees – again!

The tiny village of Cormorant re-elected its mayor, Duke – a 9-year-old Great Pyrenees dog – to a second term over the weekend.

He collected every vote but for one, which was cast for his girlfriend, Lassie, according to WDAY-TV.

The “election” took place during the village’s annual festival, Cormorant Daze. The community in northwest Minnesota is about 50 miles east of Fargo, ND.

“Three years ago, it happened by accident,” Duke’s owner David Rick said. “You pay a dollar and you can vote.”

He celebrated the big win with congratulatory pets from loyal citizens.

“I don’t know who would run against him, because he’s done such great things for the community,” said Duke devotee and Cormorant resident Karen Nelson.
