A “tragic” multi-car crash in Maryland left three children dead on Sunday night, according to officials.

The victims were traveling with two adults, who got trapped inside their vehicle with them but survived after being extricated by firefighters.

“There are no words to describe this crash except to say it is a tragedy,” tweeted Prince George’s County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady.

The three-vehicle accident happened at around 10 p.m. on Route 210 near the Indian Head Highway and Wilson Bridge Drive intersection in Oxon Hill, according to officials.

The other drivers involved were said to be “less serious injured.”
