Some people will do anything to make their flight on time, but this guy took it a bit too far — when he chased his plane down a runway.
Patrick Kehoe managed to make it down to the tarmac after the boarding gate had already closed Thursday morning at Ireland’s Dublin Airport, where he bolted after a taxiing Ryanair plane, shouting for the jet to “wait,” the BBC reported.
His last-ditch attempt to catch his Amsterdam-bound flight was thwarted when authorities pinned him to the ground and arrested him.
Kehoe, 23, was charged with criminal damage to a door lock and later posted his $250 bail, according to the news outlet.
A ground crew member who witnessed the bizarre incident said Kehoe “just ran from the building towards the plane.”
Another eyewitness told local media that the man appeared “quite determined” to make the flight as he ran “with his suitcase under his arm.”
After he was released on bail, Kehoe shouted “abuse” at reporters and even flashed his backside at them, according to the BBC.
The flight that Kehoe was trying to catch departed 21 minutes late, but landed on time in Amsterdam.
According to the news outlet, an airport spokesman said in a statement: “A male and female passenger were late for a Ryanair flight to Amsterdam this morning and arrived at the boarding gate after the flight had closed.
“They were engaging with Ryanair staff at the gate and the male passenger was becoming agitated.
“He was banging on the window to try and get the aircraft to wait … and made his way onto the apron, trying to flag the aircraft down.”
Ryanair said in a statement: “Police at Dublin Airport detained an individual who breached security at the boarding gate, which had already closed. This is now a matter for local police.”
