An 18-year-old Georgia pageant queen has been charged with the murder of her boyfriend’s toddler son.
Trinity Poague was arrested on Friday and charged with felony murder, aggravated battery and cruelty to children in the first degree, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced.
One week earlier, the George Southwestern State University (GSW) Police Department requested the GBI look into the death of an 18-month-old who died in the emergency room after being transported from a campus dorm, the investigators explained.
“The investigation indicates an unresponsive 18-month-old boy was admitted to the emergency room at Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americus, Georgia. Hospital personnel performed life saving measures on the child; however, he later died,” the GBI said.
The child may have died from blunt force trauma, Sumter County Coroner Mathis Wright told WALB.

The tot’s father, however, gave the child’s name as Jaxton Drew at the hospital, the outlet noted.
Poague – a former contestant in the National Peanut Festival Pageant – is current being held without bond as the investigation is ongoing, the GBI said.

Loved ones started a GoFundMe for the 18-month-old’s father, who is described in the fundraiser as the tot’s “sole caretaker.”
As of Tuesday morning, the page had raised over $9,190 of its $10,000 goal.
