The Trump Administration admitted it’s holding internal emails on the president’s involvement in last year’s hold on Ukraine military assistance — just hours after the Senate voted not to call for new witnesses and documents in his impeachment trial.

The Department of Justice made the disclosure just before midnight Friday to meet a court-ordered deadline after a watchdog group filed suit to get documents about the Ukraine aid.

The DOJ described 24 emails between officials at the Pentagon and the Office of Management and Budget, CNN reported.

But because the emails reveal communications from Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, and their top advisers, they must remain secret, the DOJ said.
