Former President Donald Trump’s fundraising website crashed and one of his campaign committees reportedly secured an $800,000 donation Thursday shortly after a Manhattan jury found him guilty of concealing business records to hide evidence of hush money payments.

“So many Americans were moved to donate to President Trump’s campaign that the WinRed pages went down,” the Trump campaign wrote on X less than an hour after the presumptive GOP nominee for president was convicted on 34 felony counts.

Trump adviser Chris LaCivita attributed the outage at WinRed, the official Republican Party donation platform, to “millions of American Patriots wanting to donate to Donald Trump’s campaign.” 

The website was back online about half an hour after it went down. 

Lee Zeldin, a Trump campaign surrogate and former Long Island congressman, had no trouble raising money for the former president in the aftermath of the historic verdict. 

“Just secured a $800k donation from someone for President Trump’s Joint Fundraising Committee,” New York’s 2022 Republican gubernatorial candidate wrote on X. 

“Never experienced a massive ask that easy,” he added. 

Trump also attended a previously scheduled campaign fundraiser at a private residence in New York Thursday night, a campaign official told the Wall Street Journal.

The Trump campaign’s first fundraising appeal related to the guilty verdict was blasted out on Truth Social almost as soon as the jury’s decision reached the press.

“I’M A POLITICAL PRISONER! I was just convicted in a RIGGED political Witch Hunt trial: I DID NOTHING WRONG!” read the message released by the Trump National Committee Joint Fundraising Committee.

“YOUR SUPPORT IS THE ONLY THING STANDING BETWEEN US AND TOTAL TYRANNY!” the frantic appeal went on. “So I need 10 MILLION TRUE MAGA PATRIOTS to chip in and proudly shout: I STAND WITH TRUMP!”

Within moments, an apparent surge of Trump fans had overwhelmed WinRed, the official Republican Party donation platform, briefly forcing it offline.

Trump continued to rage against the verdict on Truth Social, pronouncing: “VICTORY ON NOVEMBER 5TH. SAVE AMERICA!!!”

The 45th president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., tweeted that “Democrats have succeeded in their years long [sic] attempt to turn America into a third-world s—hole. November 5 is our last chance to save it.”

Top Republicans were also quick to release statements slamming the guilty verdict moments after it was announced. 

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said Thursday was “a shameful day in American history” and called the trial a “purely political exercise.””The American people see this as lawfare, and they know it is wrong—and dangerous. President Trump will rightfully appeal this absurd verdict—and he WILL WIN!” Johnson wrote on X. 

What happens next after Trump is found guilty in hush money case

• Donald Trump, who was found guilty on all 34 counts, will remain free until his scheduled sentencing on the morning of July 11.
• The former president does not face any travel restrictions until the sentencing.
• Trump’s attorneys said they plan to appeal the verdict “as soon as we can.”
• If Trump loses an appeal with the mid-level appeals court, he’ll likely seek to have the state’s highest court hear his case, which could take an additional year.

Trump’s former 2024 rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis also chimed in to criticize the process. 

“If the defendant were not Donald Trump, this case would never have been brought, the judge would have never issued similar rulings, and the jury would have never returned a guilty verdict,” DeSantis said on X.

“The American people see this for what it is: a politically motivated prosecution orchestrated by those who want to ‘get’ President Trump,” Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin said on X. 

“On November 5th, Americans will render their verdict on Joe Biden’s failed leadership based on the issues that affect them everyday [sic].”

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott predicted the verdict of what he called a “Kangaroo Court” would “never stand on appeal.”

“Americans deserve better than a sitting US President weaponizing our justice system against a political opponent— all to win an election,” Abbott sadded on X.

House GOP Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) said: “Today’s verdict shows how corrupt and rigged the American justice system has become under Joe Biden. I fully support President Trump appealing this decision and look forward to the New York Court of Appeals delivering justice and overturning this verdict.”

New York City’s only Republican member of Congress, Staten Island Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, issued a lengthy statement that began: “Today’s verdict is a complete but sadly unsurprising miscarriage of justice, and we knew all along that in the borough of Manhattan, where more than 86% of the population rejected President Trump, that he would not have a fair trial of his peers.

“This is an unprecedented, sad, and downright scary day for our country, which at its core has the principle of innocent until PROVEN guilty with actual EVIDENCE. Too many Americans who came here from other countries fled the exact same type of judicial abuses, and now is the time for all freedom loving Americans to rally around President Trump because we cannot allow what happens in third world, socialist countries to happen here,” she added.

“I’m confident that upon appeal, these charges will be overturned and come November, voters will see through this charade and the other attempts to block President Trump from retaking the White House. They understand that the Biden-Harris Administration and their radical-left allies will do and say anything to deflect from their failed policies that have resulted in out of control crime, runaway inflation, wide open borders and a foreign policy that has made America and our world less safe.”

Not all Republicans reacted so passionately to the verdict. Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, the GOP candidate for Senate in the state, tweeted that “I urge all Americans to respect the verdict and the legal process.”

That drew a cold-blooded response from Trump senior campaign adviser Chris LaCivia, who told Hogan: “You just ended your campaign.”

Trump is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11, exactly one week before he is expected to formally accept the Republican nomination for president at the party’s national convention in Milwaukee.

“The whole world is watching. And it’s a very sad day for New York,” the 77-year-old told reporters outside the courtroom following the verdict announcement.

“It’s all rigged. The whole thing, the whole system is rigged.”
