President Trump said Friday his 19-year-old son Barron “was very hurt” by Wednesday’s assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
“He was very hurt when he saw this. But, I mean, everybody was,” Trump said on “Fox & Friends.”
The president said that his youngest child, who recently moved back into the White House while continuing his studies at New York University’s Washington, DC campus, admired Kirk, 31, and even asked for an introduction.

Tyler Robinson, 22, was identified as Charlie Kirk’s assassin, according to officials. FBI“Barron came to me and he said, ‘Dad, I’d like to meet somebody that you know … Charlie Kirk,'” Trump recalled.
“I said, ‘What?’ I thought he was gonna say, ‘I want to meet like King Charles’ or something.”
Trump said he arranged a lunch between his son and the late Turning Point USA co-founder, who was shot and killed Wednesday while speaking on the campus of Utah Valley University.
“He came back and said, ‘That guy’s great, Dad. That guy’s great.’ You know, it was cute,” the president said.
“I’ll never forget Barron coming back saying, ‘Dad, that guy’s great.’ Normally, he’s not full of praise.”
Donald Trump has described his only child with third wife Melania as interested in politics and a source of advice on how to reach young voters in last year’s election — an objective shared by Kirk.

The first son also helped his dad pick which podcasts to appear on in a bid to reach low-propensity voters last year, his dad said.
Trump said he will attend Kirk’s funeral in Arizona, which is expected to take place next weekend, and eulogized him as someone whose influence will continue to grow in death.
“Charlie had a magic over the kids and large numbers of them, and very diverse, black, white,” Trump said. “I mean, everybody, the young women and boys, and I’ve never seen anything like it.”
