Twitter briefly locked Rep. Devin Nunes out of his account ​after the Republican lawmaker failed after repeated attempts to get past the social media company’s anti-spam filters, according to a report on Wednesday.​

Twitter said Nunes (R-Calif.) couldn’t complete a reCAPTCHA puzzle that requires users to identify images to prove they are humans and not bots and was blocked from the account, Business Insider reported.

“​Our automated systems took enforcement action on the account in error and it has since been reversed. The enforcement action was taken as a result of the account’s failure to complete an anti-spam challenge that we regularly deploy across the service,” a Twitter ​spokesperson told the website.

It’s not clear whether Nunes or a staffer was responsible for muffing the reCAPTCHA.

Nunes sued Twitter for $250 million in March 2019, accusing the social networking site of censoring conservative content. In the suit, he also named two parody accounts — “Devin Nunes’ Cow” and “Devin Nunes’ Mom” — that mocked him and promoted Democratic candidates. 

A court tossed the case in June 2020, ruling that social media companies cannot be held liable for what others post on the platform.
