Two dead newborns have been discovered hours apart at a paper recycling facility in New Jersey, according to a report.
Police responded about 9:20 a.m. Wednesday to the Colgate Paper Stock Co. on Industrial Drive in New Brunswick, where they found the first child, according to New Brunswick Today.
The second body was found about six hours later, authorities said.
Police did not release the infants’ identities.
It was unclear how the babies died, how they ended up at the site and whether they are related. Autopsies were pending.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and New Brunswick police said the investigation is “active and ongoing.”
The facility operates 24 hours a day and can process 1,000 tons of recyclable materials daily.
