Two Florida teenagers are being hailed as heroes for saving a man who crashed his truck into a canal.
Tony Cooper and a pal were sitting in a North Lauderdale restaurant when they saw a truck lose control and crash around 9 p.m. on Wednesday night, WSVN reported.
The fearless pair immediately sprang into action, ran across the parking lot and jumped into the water.
“We rushed and took off our shoes and stuff,” Cooper told the outlet while standing beside his friend, who did not give his name.
“We literally jumped on the hood and then we took off the seat belt and then we pulled him out.”

“I started screaming at him because he was heavy while he was in the car,” Cooper continued. “We screamed, he woke up, we helped him get out of the car and after that he was on the hood and then we pulled him onto the grass.”
“We rushed and took off our shoes and stuff,” Cooper told the outlet while standing beside his friend, who did not give his name. WSVNThe driver was taken to the hospital by local responders. His condition is unknown but he was conscious when he was transported, according to WSVN.
Divers were later seen in the canal working to remove the truck.

One witness, Dorothy Borgelin, said she heard a loud crash before seeing the two teens sprint over to help.
“There were two kids, they were on the other side, and then they just jumped into the water,” she told WSVN. “They did an amazing job to save the man’s life.”
City leaders said they plan to honor the pair at an upcoming city commission meeting.
Meanwhile, the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
